The Lake District: Day 2

3/5/15

I woke up to the pitter patter of rain on our camping pod - heavy rain. I dragged myself out of my sleeping bag and was greeted by my family. Then we ate breakfast, showered and got dressed.

We weren't sure where we would go as it was raining so heavily. It was decided that today we would just drive around and visit whatever interested us. So the first thing we drove by was the Holy Trinity Church, Brathay. (Pictured below)

I couldn't agree more with what William Wordsworth said of this place, he said, "There is no situation out of the Alps, nor among them, more beautiful than that where this building is placed."

Beside the church, we spotted a fast-flowing river and took the opportunity to skim rocks on the surface. The water was clear and fresh and I would have loved to canoe on it. (If I had a canoe with me!)

By the time we got to Bowness, it was lunchtime and after looking around, we found a pasty place called 'Pasty Presto' which I absolutely 100% recommend to anybody visiting Bowness. (Here is their website if you are interested http://www.pastypresto.com )

My little sister begged us to go to 'The World of Beatrix Potter' which we completely and utterly
LOVED! The beloved and well known characters came to life in the attraction.

We returned to our camping pod and had a barbecue! Which was delicious, apart from the fact that during the barbecue, we accidentally set fire to one of our towels. Luckily everything was okay and nothing was (too) badly damaged. I can't wait for tomorrow.
